Teachers as Scapegoats
In a 2003 survey Stand By Me, Public Agenda reports that 76% of teachers think they are often made the scapegoats for all the problems facing education. As an educational researcher, specializing in the scientific method for more than 15 years, I believe the teachers are correct.
The basic problem has been that educational researchers and our top educational leaders have not used the scientific method - the greatest quality control method ever recognized and developed. The results have been:
Fads and impractical programs forced onto teachers’ agendas
Incomplete and faulty training of teachers
Teachers being blamed for innumerable factors beyond their control
Blame not being placed on our top educational leaders, where it belongs.
One of the purposes of this blog is to improve education to help teachers do a better job. Teachers and all those interested in education should link to this blog.
