Sounds Like Educational Research
Groucho Marx is reported to have said “Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it, misdiagnosing it, and then misapplying the wrong remedies.”
To be fair to educational researchers, many do a good job. But then they suffer, for their work goes into the general literature along with much unreliable research, and people don’t know what is reliable and what is not. Thus the good researchers don’t get credit for doing a better job.
There is only one solution - all educators must be required to use the scientific method - the greatest quality control system ever recognized and developed. With this system, you look for trouble, analyze it properly, and then do a good search for remedies. The remedies are challenged and, if possible, tested before application. This is the route to scientifically valid research.
